Piggy Time!

I don’t do this enough, but amigurumi is really fun. And fast! Found this one via the WhipUp newsletter:

It really is the game Pass the piggies, done in crochet! They come in their own little basket and all. You can even print the rules of the game directly from the pattern.

Genius!

Crochet blanket inspiration

Eva has made a gorgeous crochet blanket:

And of course, she made me want one too.

I’ve been at flickr gathering inspiration:

Love the patterns!

Found this sweet pillow some months ago in a store – I only saved the picture, as I thought I’d make something similar, so if anyone recognize it, please let me know so I can link to the store:

Stuff No One Told Me

If you haven’t seen it yet, do:

The wonderful blog by illustrator Alex Noriega, Stuff No One Told Me (but I learned anyway) is witty, charming and touching, often in the same illustration.

Oh, and make sure you click on “poster” under the merchandise poll in the right column – I really want to buy one.

Play a kazoo

Gotta love it:

Interiorzilla

After living for two years in my sailboat, I am moving back to my tiny apartment in September. I am looking forward to it like crazy! Imagine, hot water in the kitchen! Nobody in the bathroom but me! Dishwasher! Whoa.

I have decided on painting my ugly wood-imitation laminate floor white. I will also give my walls and roof a fresh coat of white paint, as I have been renting out for the past two years. My kitchen cabinets are a light green at the momet, which i like, but they will also be painted white. And my oak worktop will be tinted darker.

I have bought a hardly-used-at-all sofa, which can be folded out to make a double bed. Nice for having company over!

love my new sofa/sofa bed

I already have a sort of apothechary chest of drawers, a huge thing with lots of tiny drawers, of a dark brown wood. At the moment, one of my friends have borrowed it, but soon it will be returning home with me.

I am debating within my head on what to do with my books. I don’t want open bookshelves as the dust drives me insane, but I haven’t found any good alternatives yet. I could go with all white IKEA shelves or closets, or I could trawl the flea markets and used furniture stores for old cabinets to paint in bright colours. Which might be too chaotic in such a tiny apartment.

Because I really, really want a bedroom of sorts, I will install a bed where my hallway closet is now. I know, it does not sound like a good idea, but I think it will work. I will need to make some measurements before I can be really sure, though.

Not much else have been decided yet. I want to make a couple of these, probably in orange:

look at it! like a sea urchin!

I am also definitely going to get one of these, a Svinga chair form IKEA:

hanging chair, appropriately named svinga

With walls, floor and ceiling white (and I mean completely white), I need to be careful choosing my accent colours. I used to like mild colours, like pale green and light wood, but now I’d like something that really pops. The orange has been chosen for me by the sofa, and I am thinking about a grassy green and buttercup yellow as well. Too citrusy? I don’t know. Yet.

I have also been doing some crafts…

Three cowls and fingerless mittens for presents:

red cowl and mitts with roses

plum cowl and mitts with teeny roses

blue-green cowl and mitts with green silk scrunch

Long time no see

…almost forgot there was a blog. But now…

I have been to Stavanger, visiting Tou Stage, and seen some lovely streetart:

Hello up there!

Amazing giant keyhole

I have been to the local fleamarket and bought a lovely cigarette box and an amazing book cover:

Isn't it beautiful?

One look at her, and Danny Boyd knew that a blonde with legs like that... must mean murder
